At the Bottom of Everything
by Bright Eyes
So there was this ________________ and she was on an ________________, and she was flying to meet her ________________ seaming high above the largest ocean on planet earth. She was seated next to this man she had tried to start ________________, but the only thing she had really heard him say was to order his Bloody Mary. She was sitting there and she was ________________ this really arduous ________________ article about a third world ________________ that she couldn’t even ________________ the name of. And she was feeling very ________________ and very despondent. And then suddenly there was this huge ________________ failure and one of the engines gave out, and they started just ________________ thirty-thousand feet, and the pilot’s on the microphone and he’s saying “I’m ________________, I’m ________________, oh my god... I'm ________________” and apologizing. And she looks at the man and she says “Where are we ________________?” and he looks at her and he says “We’re going to a ________________. It’s a birthday ________________. It’s your birthday ________________. Happy birthday darling. We ________________ you very, very, very, very, very, very, very much.” And then he starts humming this little tune, it kind of goes like this: 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4
We must ________________ in every ________________
Get eaten off the ________________
We must rip out all the epilogues in the ________________ that we have ________________
And in the face of every ________________
Strapped firmly to a ________________
We must ________________, x3
We must take all of the ________________ too ________________ now to sell
Set ________________ to the preacher who is promising us hell
And in the ear of every ________________ that sleeps but doesn’t ________________
We must ________________, x3
It’ll go like this:
While my ________________ waters plants
My ________________ loads his guns
He says death will give us back to ________________
Just like this setting sun is returned to the lonesome ________________
And then they splashed into the deep blue ________________
It was a ________________ splash
We must blend into the choir
________________ as static with the whole
We must ________________ nine ________________ and deny we have a soul
And in this endless race for ________________ and ________________ to be won
We must ________________, x3
We must hang up in the belfry
Where the bats and moonlight ________________
We must stare into a crystal ________________ and only see the ________________
And in the ________________ of tomorrow
With just our flashlights and our ________________
We must ________________, x3
And then we’ll get down there, way down to the very bottom of everything
And then we’ll see it, oh we’ll see it, we’ll see it, we’ll see it
Oh my ________________ is coming back
The whole world’s ________________
All the city buses swimming past
I’m ________________ just ________________
I found out I am really no one
